Welcome Your College Student Home For Thanksgiving With These Tips

Consider these tips when your kids come home for the holidays.

You have probably always looked forward to Thanksgiving with your family. However, if one of your kids has been off at college, this year may be a little more exciting. To help make your reunion a happy one, consider these kids home for the holidays tips.

  • Make your travel arrangements as soon as possible. The sooner you buy plane tickets, the cheaper they will typically be. Make sure to let your child know as soon as you make any arrangements so that they can plan their schedule.
  • Expect some changes when your child comes home. Ask if they are following any special diet, such as if they went vegan, so that you can accommodate their needs. Also, make sure to let them know if you have made any major changes, such as turning their old room into your own personal gym.
  • Let your old house rules slide a little. If your child had a 9 p.m. curfew the last time they were home, you may as well throw it out the window now. Not only will your teen want to spend time with their hometown friends while they are home, but trying to keep all the same rules in place will show them that you do not trust their decisions.
  • Help out with their laundry. Chances are, your child has been putting off doing laundry for a couple weeks, knowing that they were coming home. Offer to do a couple loads for them and help them stock up on other essentials, such as vitamin, deodorant, and other essentials.

While your kids are home for Thanksgiving vacation, you may also want to schedule a few appointments for them to ensure that they are feeling their best. Contact Pediatric Surgical Associates in Orange County, California for all of your teen’s medical needs.
