Ensure That Your Kids Get the Right Nutrition & Check Out These Common Food Myths

Food Myths for Kids to Avoid & Proper Nutrition in Orange County

Check out these food myths so that you can feed your kids properly.

As your kids grow big and strong, they need the proper nutrition. Eating the right foods helps your kids get the right nutrients so that their bodies and brains can develop normally. However, with so many opinions on how to give your kids the right nutrition, it can be difficult to tell the truth from food myths. Check out what you need to know about feeding your kids properly so that they can get the right nutrition.

Myth: My child rejected a food, so there’s no point in trying to feed it to them again.

Fact: It’s not unusual for kids to reject foods, especially healthy fruits and veggies. In fact, studies show that it takes time to introduce foods to kids. Keep trying. It’s best to introduce new foods as frequently as you can alongside familiar foods so that your kids can get used to the new flavors.

Myth: Drinking juices are healthy for your kids.

Fact: Juices are certainly a bit healthier for your kids than soda, but they’re loaded with sugar. Plus, juice can be harmful to your child’s teeth and can upset your kid’s stomach. Swap out your child’s juice intake for water or milk. It’s a more nutritious option that’s much lower in sugar. You can still give you child juice, just do so in moderation so that your child drinks no more than six ounces per day.

Myth: Limiting my child’s food intake will help prevent them from becoming overweight.

Fact: There’s a fine line when it comes to regulating your kid’s food intake. Limiting your child’s foods could lead to overeating behaviors. Rather than setting portion controls, let your kids determine when they’re finished eating. However, serve limited quantities of high caloric foods like chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. Otherwise, let them eat as many fruits and veggies as they’d like.
