Halloween Safety Tips for Trick-or-Treating

Use these Halloween safety tips to keep your kids safe.

It’s that time of year again! School is back in session, the weather has cooled down, and it’s time to choose the perfect Halloween costume. Fall is here, and it’s time to turn your home into a haunted house. However, before you and your family gets caught up in all the Halloween fun, it’s important to think about safety. Check out these Halloween safety tips so that you keep your kids safe and secure.

Costume Conscious.

When it comes to your child’s costume, ensure that it’s well suited for a long night of trick-or-treating. Help your child pick a light colored outfit with a hem above the ankle. That way you, can reduce their risk of tripping and make them more visible in the dark. Plus, be wary of any masks. Masks can reduce your vision, making trick-or-treating more dangerous. When it comes to your child’s safety, help them choose the right costume.

Be Wary of Strangers.

While most people on Halloween are non-threatening, It’s always a good idea to be on your guard. Go trick-or-treating with your kids so that you can keep an eye on them. Additionally, remind your children to be careful around strangers. Advise them not to enter any homes no matter the circumstance.

Conduct a Candy Inspection.

When it comes to your child’s candy, it’s important to take a look before you let your kids dig in. Keep a look out for any open, unsealed wrappers, and any homemade candies. If you come across any, toss them. Only let your kid eat sealed candies, and limit how much candy they eat in one sitting.
