But, with fad diets and ever changing popular opinion it can be hard to know exactly what you should be eating. Eat a more healthful diet and check out these ways in which you can improve your family’s health.

Don’t Trust the Label.

Just because a food has a label that says it’s healthy or low in sugar or fat, doesn’t necessarily mean that you should be eating it. When you’re looking for foods at the store, be sure to read the label. Be sure to watch the sugar and fat content in your food. Be sure that the sugar content is less than eight grams.

Stick to The Perimeter of the Grocery Store.

Supermarkets tend to keep healthy foods on the sides and in the back of the store. Many supermarkets intentionally make it easier to grab the boxed or packaged foods. However, those foods usually aren’t good for you.

Cut Back on The Juice.

Juice comes from fruit so it must be healthy, right? In fact, that’s not the case. While juice is healthier than other sugary beverages, it often has lots and lots of sugar. It’s best to cut back on the juice and the soda and just drink water. But if your kids must have juice, be sure to cut some of the sugar by adding some water.

Pay Attention to Portion Size.

The amount that you consume isn’t always the same as a serving size. In fact, you’re often eating more than you should. Be sure to pay attention to what and how much you and your family is eating. Read the labels and find out how much a single serving size is and watch your portions.
