Skip The Sharp Knives With These Pumpkin Decorating Ideas For Kids

Unique Pumpkin Decorating Ideas

Halloween is just around the corner, which means pumpkins are everywhere! From your local pumpkin patches to your neighborhood grocery store, you can pick up a pumpkin just about anywhere. If you are looking for a fun, unique way to decorate your pumpkin that will impress your neighbors, consider these creative pumpkin decorating ideas for kids.

Crayon Drip Art Pumpkin – skip the traditional orange pumpkin and buy a white pumpkin, either real or fake. Remove the labels from 16 to 20 crayons, break them in half, and glue them to the top of the pumpkin with fast drying tacky glue. Use your hair dryer to heat up the crayons until they start melting and dripping down the pumpkin. Be patient and careful, since the melted crayon wax will be hot for a while.

Cookie Cutter Pumpkin – this is a great way for older children to decorate their pumpkin. Cut out the bottom of your pumpkin and take out all the seeds and pulp. Head into your kitchen and find fun cookie cutters. Using a rubber mallet, hammer the cookie cutter into the side of the pumpkin in various places and use pliers to pull it back out. Put as many holes into your pumpkin as you want, and then place it on top of a flameless candle or glow stick when the sun goes down.

Chalkboard Pumpkin – if your kids cannot decide exactly how to decorate their pumpkin, they will love chalkboard pumpkins. Buy chalkboard paint that is available at most hardware stores and cover the entire pumpkin. Using any colored chalk, draw on a face or any other design. Don’t worry about messing it up since you can erase the design and start over!

Glitter Pumpkin – add a little bit of shine to your house with a glitter pumpkin. Simply cover the entire pumpkin with white glue using a paintbrush and sprinkle on your favorite colored glitter! Make sure to do this art project outside or keep the pumpkin on a paper plate to prevent glitter from going all over your house.
