The practice of going through the motions helps develop good habits for later in life. Start small with little things to get your kids into the practice. Try having your kids clean up their toys after they’re finished playing or wipe up any messes after they’ve spilled.
Give Encouragement.
As your children are doing the task, give them praise. Positive reinforcements help to get your kids in the habit of doing their chores. Don’t wait too long though, or the encouragement won’t be as meaningful.
Create A Schedule.
When you are inconsistent in your delegation of chores, it can be difficult to get your kids to do them regularly. Instead, they might develop a habit of putting them off until someone else does it for them. Establish a set schedule so that your kids know exactly what their responsibilities are and when they’re supposed to do them.
Have Some Fun.
If your kids are having a good time, they won’t mind doing chores. Get creative and make clean up fun. Try singing a cleanup song, turning it into a game, or a friendly competition. The more fun they have, the more likely they’ll be to do their chores.
